The Rob Roy Hotel is situated at the gateway to theTrossachs in the land where one of Scotland's most famous rogue's "Rob Roy McGregor" once roamed.
The Rob Roy is set within Scotland's first National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty with rugged hills and sparkling lochs, and virtually unlimited things to see and do.
Scotland is the home of golf and there are plenty of fantastic golfing
opportunities nearby on courses of a variety of standards, but all guarenteeing quality golf with spectacular scenery.
And you don't need to go far to find one; Aberfoyle Golf Club is across the road, overlooked by the majestic Ben Lomond.
There are excellent fishing opportunities throughout the park, and the Lake of Mentieth, just minutes from the hotel, is a great place to start. The Lake is one of Scotlands most beautiful fisheries, with the tranquil ruins of Inchmahone Priory on one of the islands within. there are plenty more water-based activities nearby, from sailing on the 19th century Sir Walter Scott on Loch Katrine to white- water rafting.
And we have not even mentioned the Legendary Loch Lomond...
For the Cyclists there are some fantastic mountain Biking Trails nearby, and the National Cycle Route, which can take you from Glasgow all the way to inverness, literally passes our back gate.
We think it would be difficult to find a better walking base anywhere, and why not start by having a lovely stroll from the hotel along the banks of The Forth to the picturesque village of Aberfoyle, with it's Craft Shops and Visitors Centres. If this whets your appetite their are countless trails nearby to suit novice and expert alike.
Walking a little sedate for you? How about flying along Britain's longest zip wire, 150 feet above a 90 foot waterfall?! Go Ape is the place for you....
So, just a taste of what our area has to offer, but after all that, do you still have the itch for some Big City Action? In that case just 40 minutes and you are in the heart of Glasgow. Forget what they might tell you Down South this is the U.K's most vibrant metroplolis, home to the best shopping, coolest clubs and bars, friendliest (and funniest) inhabitants, and of course....Home to Football!!
